The Dutch site Pixelmania  posted a first comparison between the three 25mm MFT lenses. You can see the full size images taken at f/1.8 aperture here: Olympus lens (full size here), Panasonic lens (full size here), Voigtlander lens (full size here).

Pixelmania writes the Olympus has the best center to corner sharpness between the three lenses!

SLRgear tests the new Olympus 25mm lens. Says it’s fast, sharp and affordable!

SLRgear (Click here) tested the new Olympus 25mm lens and writes:

The Olympus 25mm ƒ/1.8 M.Zuiko Digital is another excellent member of Olympus’ fast prime lens family for their Micro Four Thirds cameras. It feels solid and well-balanced on big and small Micro Four Thirds cameras, alike, and its compact size and light weight make it an excellent everyday, go-anywhere fast prime for portraits and low-light shooting. With outstanding sharpness, even wide-open, as well as minimal CA, vignetting and distortion, the new 25mm ƒ/1.8 is a very solid performer that produces excellent images.

The lens has been also tested by Bestmirrorlesscamerareviews:

This review is one of the fastest I’ve ever written, not because there isn’t much to say but because the lens works so well that there isn’t anything else to add. The M.Zuiko 25mm f/1.8 might rapidly become a classic lens in the MFT system, especially among those who enjoy this field of view. It is cheaper than the 25mm f/1.4 by Leica and its price might decrease like the 45mm f/1.8 did. This would make it just another example of an excellent compromise between image quality and price for the system.

Keep in mind that you save $100 on that lens if you buy it along a new MFT camera. See the details at Amazon (Click here) and GetOlympus (Click here)!

Olympus vs Panasonic 25mm lens comparison by Robin Wong.

Image comparison: Robin Wong

Robin Wong (Click here) posted an interesting Panasonic-Leica 25mm vs Olympus 25mm lens comparison. These are Robin’s conclusions:

1) The Olympus lens is slightly wider in field of view than the Panasonic lens
2) The Olympus lens is *possibly 1/3 EV brighter than Panasonic lens (not conclusive, based on just quick observation on EXIF data)
3) There is not much difference in shallow depth of field rendering between F1.8 and F1.4 lenses (if point number 2 is true, the gap is bridged due to either the Olympus lens being 1/3 EV brighter than F1.8 or the Panasonic lens being 1/3 EV darker than F1.4. This is just my observation, not a conclusive statement)
4) Although Olympus magnification factor is 0.12x and Panasonic magnification factor is 0.11x, I find the close up shooting capability of Olympus lens to be significantly better than the Panasonic lens.
5) Panasonic lens has poorer CA control (especially shooting wide open) and corner sharpness than Olympus lens.
6) General sharpness between both lenses are almost identical

OMD EM10 3-Axis Stabilisation Tests – OM-D E-M10 Day 1 by Blunty.

Digitalversus (Click here) posted the full E-M10 review and writes:

The Olympus OM-D E-M10 takes the excellent, tried-and-tested tech from its two predecessors and packs it into a stylish and compact mirrorless camera that’s cheaper and more accessible. The E-M10 is user-friendly and great-looking camera with excellent performances. It’s a premium choice without being pretentious, and it’s as likely to please style-conscious shoppers looking for a sleek accessory as it is those in search of first-rate picture quality. It also has enough to keep advanced users happy. It’s an all-round success!

Robin Wong (Click here) posted the full Olympus 9mm fisheye lens review. This can be a really funny lens if you are aware of the fe strenths and many limits of the lens. Robin writes

I was actually very pleased with the results I managed to pull out from the 9mm Body Cap Lens. At the center of the frame the images came out reasonably sharp with good amount of details (not as sharp as any Olympus lenses, even the kit lenses eg M.Zuiko 14-42mm is still significantly sharper) but the sharpness drops significantly at corners. Not only soft corners, but chromatic aberration especually purple fringing is evident at the corners too. I actually have no issue with this, mainly because for fisheye lenses or very wide lenses I normally would compose my main subjects at the center of the frame.

Robin (Click here) also posted the second part of the E-M10 review with focus on HIgh ISO performance:

the ISO performance of OM-D E-M10 is noticeably better than the E-M5, and this happens at ISO6400 or higher. The color (chromatic) noise in the E-M10 images are well suppressed, with left only traces of mostly luminance noise. The luminance noise was present even at ISO1,600, but this should not be a problem to clean up with any noise reduction software. I would recommend turning the Noise Filter to “Low” if you are shooting JPEG and intend to use the images straight out of the camera.

It’s a suprise to read the E-M10 is better than the E-M5!

New Olympus 25mm lens test by Robin Wong and Jackie Loi.

The probably most interposing new product is the new Olympus 25mm f/1.8 lens. And it will already ship on February 12 according to Amazon (Click here). And if you want to learn more about the lens Robin Wong (Click here) posted the first part of his Olympus 25mm f/1.8 lens review:

There is something interesting about the contrast rendering of this M.Zuiko 25mm F1.8 lens. It does seem like the images come out more punchy with higher contrast. This was especially noticeable when I switched lens immediately from the M.Zuiko 14-42mm F2.5-5.6 EZ Pancake Zoom lens. In fact the only time I remember seeing this kind of contrast level was when I was shooting with the Olympus M.Zuiko 75mm F1.8 lens. I admit that the 25mm F1.8 is not as sharp as the 75mm F1.8 (one of the sharpest lenses around in the market) but the look and feel of the images somehow came out with similar tones. This is the main reason, straight out of the camera, images from the 25mm F1.8 actually looks a tad bit better than the 45mm F1.8.

Also Jackie Loi (Click here) tested the same lens on the same day with Robin and posted some image samples on his site.
Great lens, but it would have been even better if the lens would be a tiny bit cheaper :)
