My previous digital cameras were fixed lens Konica Minolta types with EVFs and I had tried Panasonic G cameras on several occasions to establish that I was happy with the EVF. Having used 35mm slrs for many years I never bought into APS-C slrs as I thought that their viewfinders seemed rather small.
Overall I have been impressed by the speed and accuracy of the autofocus and have found the EVF very easy to use (due to being long sighted I didn’t want a camera with LCD only).
I think the EVF is extremely useful for being able to magnify images and clearly see whether they are blurred or out of focus.
I have been impressed with the results I have obtained manually focussing my old Pentax 50mm macro lens, which I found difficult to focus on my old Pentax MX.
The lens range now seems to be coming along quite nicely and I have been most impressed with the Olympus 9-18mm (as reviewed separately)
I have no issues with the relatively chunky shape and size of the camera which makes it better balanced for all but the smallest lenses.
I have been quite pleased by the 720p videos when played on my Sony wide-screen TV.
The principal issue I have with the image quality is the relatively poor dynamic range which Panasonic really ought to be working on for future releases.
The price of the G2 was quite high initially but now I think it’s good value for money.
