A triple lens review and a nice GF5 test video!

Share

Our french friends from Hybridcams got their hands on the new Panasonic GF5 and shot that video in Paris. It’s really a great cam, but as I said yesterday I don’t know if it can compete against the cheap GF3 or cheap PEN entry cameras (like the list of cameras I posted here at the bottom). Anyway, the GF5 is now arriving in US and European stores. Preorder search links: Amazon, Olympus US store, Adorama, B&H, eBay (Could not be listed in some stores).

No camera is good without a good lens. And here is a new triple lens review about three (Micro-) Four Thirds zoom lenses:

Olympus Digital 14-42mm f/3.5-5.6 ED (FourThirds!) Lens Review at Photoreview (Click here).

And here are some nice refurbished Olympus cameras at Olympusmarket. As usual keep in mind that European citizen only can buy the stuff:

    mmmm damn good 😀

  • The 14-42 was reviewed may 2009 and is not a Micro 😉

    • I buy this in Kit by E-510, and after i up grad firmware in lens focus then ok on M43 camera(E-P1 and E-P2) too.

  • The music is Road Game by Kavinsky. If you go to the video on Vimeo there are more notes.

  • Cool video! I know nothing about video but am becoming interested in it. Is the aspect ratio used in the video native to the camera or cropped later in software? Also how is the high speed video done, in camera or later in software editing?

The music seemed a bit too epic for people eating lunch 🙂

I was surprised to see the GF5 in a shop 2 days ago so had a go. It didn’t seem much different to the GF3 in all honesty. I thought the grip would be nicer, but it still has a plastic feel about it.

Still it’s not a bad choice for a small micro4/3 camera, didn’t see any reason for GF3 owners to upgrade though.

  • Hi there! This article could not be written much better!
Looking at this article reminds me of my previous roommate!
He always kept talking about this. I will forward this post to him.
Pretty sure he’ll have a good read. Many thanks for sharing!
