“This is not earth shattering but there appears to be a shortage of 7-14mm and 45mm Panasonic lens.
I ordered them with Panasonic Direct and after I make the order they shipped the camera / 20mm but then told me the two lens were on Back Order. After going though a couple layers of people at Panasonic Direct I got a managers on the phone they were able to check all of their stock locations and they are out of both lens and do not expect more until late Sept.”

“My panasonic g10 kit arrived today. I took tripod mounted pics in low light for iso’s 100-6400. 800-6400 samples are also included with lightroom 3.0′s (another new toy) noise reduction, which I found impressive. The set with explanations are on my page here:

Overall I think I will like the camera. It will be the in the car always around camera. The camera is very light even compared with the gf1, but feels solid. The kit lens was a bit larger/longer then I expected, and I am not that happy with how is balances on my gf1. It fits much nicer on the g10. I think the gf1 will be pretty exclusively mated with the 20 1.7 and olympus 9-18 and when I need the 14-42 or 45-200 I will use the g10.”

2 years ago |That’s great. Now the 7-14mm will be even MORE expensive in remaining stock… No summer 7-14mm shooting for me

I’m really very happy with this lens.
45 leica will be next if someone doesn’t release anything faster for portraiture… lack of portrait lens is of my main concern now.

2 years ago |For 720p with 4:2:2 on I am using these values for Quality
170 150 130 110
and these values for table
120 120 120 120
It will record at about 35 mb/sec with settings and it will not freeze the camera during recording. It also allows you to play back most videos in playback mode in the camera.
I have not found any 1080p settings for the GF1 that are stable for all cases. Mine freezes up even if I don’t increase the bit rate at all. I am using a decent class 10 SD card.
I have also noticed that it freezes much more with the 20mm pancake than it does with older manual focus lenses.

That’s a shocker… Does anyone remember when Panasonic DIDN’T have a shortage of lenses for their 4/3 and m4/3 cameras? Their production and logistics planning capabilities are a joke. Panasonic AVC management is a joke.
You have a million units of 25 different point & shoot models in stock across the world where the profit is a couple dozen dollars per unit, and thousand dollar lenses with hundreds of dollars profit per unit are perpetually out of stock.
They’ve incurred huge opportunity costs where people wanted to buy but couldn’t, so they bought something else — some of them bought into other systems. So they not only lost current sales and market share, but they lost customers and future sales / market share and gave their competitors ample opportunity for success over and over again. How many strategic blunders can one company make? At most companies, the board would have fired all the department heads by now.
