NO. I don’t agree with most of what he is wishing the new Ex to be. Why would we need a 7FPs camera . that would make the camera shutter more fragile and truth be told , I can’t see why it is needed and yes even for sports
the Video should be featured on an upgraded E30 , not on the pro weather sealed body
but Yes to :
SD+CF in a intelligent fashion
Image level function
better image quality via lower AA filter
DNG raw
also should be added
different eyepiece than the one on the E3
dedicated AF S/ AFC/Manual button ( on the front like the e1)
silent shutter
Kodak or Fuji sensor

3 years ago |How does 7fps make the shutter more fragile? Canon moves a much larger mirror at 9fps with a longer shutter life. 7fps for a 4/3 mirror is not exceptionally fast.
I can agree with most of the features the author wants to see. Overall improvement in IQ, AF speed/accuracy, and noise are the key areas Olympus needs to address.
Love to see DNG support.

3 years ago |Regarding the E3 improvement list, I would mostly agree, but don’t see the point of an SD slot over XD. I think 2 CF slots, like the nikons, is the way to go. Worrying about weight seems a bit odd considering it’s a pro camera with full weather sealing. DNG? don’t see the point, but sure.
The higher frame rate is good for shooting 2 or 3 image bursts in that the sequence is tighter. At 5 fps, for most action, much is missed between each image. In fact, I would say that having an ultra high burst function to shoot 3 images in say .25 second is more important than continuous shooting for 8 or so frames per second. . . just my take from experience.
HD, sure, as best oly can offer. oversized sensor? sure. live view silent mode makes sense. I shoot full manual often and it might be cool. having level sensors would be nice too. I really don’t understand SD cards for video. Given that CF is faster, more robust and reliable and it’s already the standard in pro still cameras? Why not just have a second one like nikon.
as far as image quality goes, well, i guess that’s just up to oly to do the best they can. based on reviews of the 620 and ep1, it seems they are going in the right direction. I do prefer 6400 iso shooting in low light without flash and that is my only real worry that oly hopefully can pull off.

3 years ago |New professional Olympus DSLR model really needs constantly high dynamic range (13-14 EV would be fantastic) sensor across wide ISO settings (something similar or improved to Fujifilm FinePix S5 Pro) – this maybe needs new type of sensor or ultra-fast bracketing method or so. Can be SuperCCD the solution? More fast Digital Zuiko primes (for example f2.0 28mm, 35mm, 50mm in 135 film format), decent high ISO noise, silent shutter operation and more compact body than E-3 will keep new E line competitive.
