3 years ago |perhaps the earliest confirmation of the 100mm macro (as at 4th october) on eli reed’s interview:
“I use the Olympus E-3, E-30, EP-1 (I always have this new camera with me at all times now because of its size and what it does) with 14-42mm, 12-60mm F2.8/4, 7-14mm F4, 14-35mm F2, 100mm F2, 35-100mm F2, 150mm F2, and 50-200mm F2.8/3.5.”
At least we know the olympus visionaries are using them!

3 years ago |There’s no way to “fix the problem” as long as you are getting your video signal by scanning the sensor sequentially from top to bottom (as all cameras of this type have to do, even high-end ones.)
Inevitably this scanning takes time, and if the subject moves during that time, the bottom of it is going to be displaced relative to the top. Panasonic has the problem a bit less, because their sensor is smaller and can be scanned faster. But you can’t make it go away; it’s just something videomakers who use these cameras have to watch out for.
Actually, it’s just a resurfacing of a very old problem. If you look at still action photos taken around the beginning of the 20th century (Lartigue’s, for example) you’ll see a lot of them in which subjects such as racing cars appear to be “leaning forward.” The reason was that these photos were shot with large-format cameras with shutters that used a vertically-traveling slit in front of the film. It took a fairly long time for the slit to move from one edge to the other, and during that time the car would move, so the car would seem to be leaning and the wheels would look oval instead of round.
