Micro 4/3 vs High-end Compact (Panasonic GF3 vs LX-5)

Panasonic GF1 review at Wetakepictures: “I have been very happy with the Panasonic as my main (only!) digital camera, it is very capable, and is a good companion to my medium format camera when i am setting out to take pictures, and great on it’s own as well. For me, I don’t especially like SLR cameras, and find the handling and style of the Panasonic a lot nicer to use. It does almost everything that I want a digital camera to do.

Richard Franiec says E-PL3 accessory grip also suitable for PEN Mini (Dpreview).

Enthusiast camera review by C.Garrad (with the E-P3 and E-PL3).

Any update on availability of Oly 45mm lens in the US? Japan seems to be full of stock…

  • “Evil mirrorless”??

Why does Kai Wong get to do all these reviews? You don’t learn anything. Any one can do what he does.

And that girl sounds Australian sometimes! She’s probably English though, like Kai.

EVIL = Electronic Viewfinder with Interchangeable Lens..
…so… Evil Mirrorless is redundant but Kai is never really trying to be tech perfect..it is more about entertaining and informing. :-)

      • Bob B.

        Redundant like “fake plastic”.

The guy that did the enthusiast camera review came across as a bit of a tool.

    • lily

So does the guy in the video. Ugh.

“Why does Kai Wong get to do all these reviews? You don’t learn anything. Any one can do what he does.”

    But no one does;)

It is funny and most time you learn more about the camera then by reading a technical review.

    • frank

well in this case you didn’t learn anything as it was a very silly comparison with no conclusion

I could think about 10 situations where one or the other would be better suited, but there was non of that

It is obvious the company wants to sell both cameras. Indeed, very few people actually buy from his shop in Hong Kong, he just wants to market via online to overseas market by making a lot of “marketing-oriented review videos”.

I wonder what a ‘fake plastic tree’ is … ;-)

    • Mr. Reeee

Yeah, given the choice, I’ll always pick real plastic. ;-)

    • Voldenuit

      I think it’s a Radiohead song.

  • om-4

I learned that there is a plastic wishing tree in HK.
    Didn’t know that.

  • Per

    He is funny as usual

If I’m not mistaken, it seems that Kai actually likes the GF3! He didn’t have much good to say about the EPL3, probably because the tilty-screen reminds him of the most hated Sony. He let the girl talk, too! Even though he seems to be getting a bit sillier, there are still some good points he always manages to get across.

I find him refreshing, instead of self-important blowhards spouting specs, waving shots of focus charts and genuflecting to the holy word of DXO. ;-)

    • Bob B.

Sounds to me like you have watched waaaaaaaaaaay too many DigRev videos!!! LOL! (I actually like his reviews too..just because of everything you said..plus..he may make fun of everything and everyone….but he also makes fun of himself, too!)…
People need to lighten up an laugh a little. Beats watching an “unboxing” video!!!!!!!!!!!!!

    • Bob B.

oh…yeah..he did let her talk this time….what is up with that?!?!?!?!?
