8-bit vs 10-bit vs Prores HQ from the Panasonic GH5: What’s the best option?

Share

Wolfcrow tested the 10bit performance of the GH5:

One of the most confusing choices in the Panasonic GH5 is which video format do you pick? Your options are 10-bit 4:2:2, 8-bit 4:2:0 and
Prores or DNxHD via an external recorder.
Previously, I had made a video explaining why 10-bit 150 Mbps was a bad idea, so you might want to watch that first:

The two tests are
HDR test, with highlights near clipping and shadows all the way down. I’m shooting V-Log for best dynamic range.
Chroma keying test, my favorite. Waving a colorful duster against a poorly lit green screen. Enjoy!

And he also posted a second video with the full GH5 review:

GH5 at Amazon, BHphoto, Adorama and Panasonic US. In EU at Amazon.de, Cyberport.de and ParkCamera.
